Walking on Sunshine in Mesquamicut, Rhode Island

Mesquamicut State Beach, RI

I’ve been hearing about how nice the Rhode Island beaches are for three years now since moving to Connecticut. Everyone has recommended several beaches but the one that came up most consistently was Mesquamicut State Beach. We were blessed with two days off at the start of last week and I was finally able to make that 45-minute trip. The weather was absolutely perfect– 80 degrees, clear skies and the UV Index was at 9. But the water was freezing!! What are the good months for warm water up north or is it always pretty cold?

R&R

The purpose of the trip was to rest and relax and Mesquamicut was perfect for that. We stayed at Pleasant View Inn right on the beach but at the end where it’s more quiet and away from the crowd. We did walk down to The Andrea and Paddy’s Beach Club a few times for music, meals and drinks. It’s cool how it’s a family-friendly area but there are still good places to hang out. It’s also a very short drive to downtown Westerly which has a nice old town vibe. We ate at Malted Barley our last night and it was unique and delicious. They have tons of beers and the food menu is pretzel-based, including dessert. Definitely recommend going there if you’re ever in the Westerly, RI area.

We’re in crunch-time of the season fighting to maintain playoff position but I’m looking forward to hopefully having a chance to visit a couple other beaches before the summer is over (schedule-permitting.) I’m open to any recommendations so let me know where ya think I should go!

XO,

Jas

If you chwck the chAnce check out East Beach in WeSterly. Its right next to Taylor Swift’s house and there’s a dirt path to get to the beach. It’s beautiful! Enjoy!!
